Sitting here in my chair in front of the computer killing this morning waiting on the fate of my little 4 legged friend Salsa.
This little dog is very special to Mother and I guess if I am being honest to me as well. She came to us in 2004 after my Mothers dog was ran over at her alky boyfriends home on Valentines Day. Never liked that guy or that dog. I am an animal person but I never connected with that dog on any level. I was always a big dog person if and when I had space to own one. The dog who died was a nasty little black cockapoo. Bleh, I hated that animal and was glad it was gone but felt bad for Mom.
A friend of hers gave her little Salsa shortly afterwards. This little dog changed my mind about small dogs. For a 7 pound dog she had the personality of a much larger creature. Our time with Salsa has been truly interesting.
This 14 year old little ball of energy has had more money spent on its healthcare than all dogs I have ever owned combined; Rectal abscess repair, ACL surgery on Left ACL, Steroid injections on Right ACL, 6 week grooming cycle for nail trims and anal glad expression, full sedation dental cleaning, Science Diet dry dog food, and now Senior nutrition soft canned food.
Not cheap but Mom has the most faithful companion guarding the home while I am away working for the ambulance company.
